Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds and separates muscles, organs, bones and nerves and is primarily made up of collagen.
They are huge sheets of connective tissue that link the entire body known as myofascial meridians or fascia lines. See below.
During a car crash it can sometimes cause this fascia especially the back lines to “Lock up” this was the case with my client. She experienced a bad car crash 3 years ago and has since been living with a tightness across all her upper back, causing pain and discomfort. when feeling a client in this scenario their body feels different to simply the muscles being tight.
There are a few techniques that are very good at helping to release and soften the fascia such as myofasical release, shiatsu and cupping. the key to fascial release is slow and steady work hence why both shiatsu and cupping is perfect for this.
I do enjoy using cupping as it seems to soften the clients up a lot quicker than regular work.
